An invited talk hosted by the New York University Abu Dhabi delivered by our coordinator.

The GET Lab’s coordinator, Associate Professor Despina Michael-Grigoriou has been invited and delivered a talk entitled “How to address human needs through Virtual Reality”, hosted by the Assistant Professor Domna Banakou at New York University Abu Dhabi. The invited talk took place on 24th of October, 2024 and was attended by the NYUAD staff and students. After the invited talk a discussion followed on the future of Virtual Reality in regards to research and its applications to industry.

Invited talk summary: Virtual Reality is used in a variety of domains nowadays. Contributing to humans’ well-being is one of the aspects that Virtual Reality is used for. Several dimensions of well-being are directly linked to humans’ needs as defined by Maslow’s hierarchy of needs pyramid. In this talk we will present some of the Virtual Reality studies conducted at GET Lab focusing on addressing human needs through physio-psycho-social well-being.
