Logipaignion 2014: computer games development competition

The final phase of the Logipaignion 2014 Contest was held on Saturday, 3 May 2014 at the University of Cyprus with the active participation of GET Lab [www.getlab.org] from the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts of the Cyprus University of Technology.

Logipaignion 2014 is the 6th annual Pancyprian Contest addressed to High School and Lyceum students, for the development of computer games featuring topics related to Computer Science, the Multimedia and Graphic Arts. The contest’s main goal is to encourage inventiveness, rational thinking and creativity in IT, as well as the correct, user-friendly and critical design of Multimedia Applications. In the high schools category, games were developed using the Alice, Scratch and Microsoft’s Kodu tools, whereas lyceums utilized the GameMaker and Microsoft’s XNA. Dr Despina Michael, a lecturer at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts of the Cyprus University of Technology, and the coordinator at GET Lab and the MSc in Computer Games and Interactive Technologies [http://blogs.cut.ac.cy/games] also coordinated the programme and evaluation committee. Christos Kyrlitsias and Kalia Aristeidou, postgraduate students and researchers at GET Lab, serve at the panel of judges.

The University of Cyprus’ Department of Computer Science and the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts of the Cyprus University of Technology organized the contest, which was supported by the Inter-University MSc in Computer Games and Interactive Technologies.
